As many of you know, on September 1, the provincial government announced that starting on September 22, people attending indoor public settings will have to show proof of full vaccination in order to enter the venue. As a result, all members of Average Joe that are attending indoor games for the fall season, will have to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
Since this rule was just announced, we are trying to work with our venue partners to determine exactly what this will look like in practice. However, we wanted to make all teams/individuals aware as soon as we could in case this impacts participating this fall. While the provincial rules don’t actually apply to employees, we have also committed that all of our game supervisors and refs be fully vaccinated.
For those members playing with us this fall, we ask for your patience as we figure out the best process for this. This kind of requirement is not something we have been set up to fulfill in the past and the government has not given us much time to figure it out before the fall season. We will work hard to figure out this latest curveball in what has been a challenging 18 months to run sports leagues. We are confident that we will have a fun season of fall sports for our members.
